Million Women March for Endometriosis 2015 a great success and registration now open for 2016’s March!

On 28 March 2015 we WALKED !  A record number of women and their supporters turned up at the Union Buildings in Pretoria in a sea of YELLOW unity! Husbands, friends, sisters, brothers, babies and children joined and showed their support.  Réchelle Heldsinger lead the walk and read out a memorandum that is going to be delivered to the Minister of Health within the next few weeks (watch this space!). Dr Johan van der Wat, Endometriosis Specialist and a beloved supporter of EndoWarriors, and Millen Magese, supermodel from New York and Ex Miss Tanzania, and fellow ENDO-Sister, joined Rechelle in leading this special walk and added their voices and support.  (Keep and eye on updates from this website and EndoWarriors Facebook page for more of what Millen is up to!).   To view photos of this event please go to EndoWarriors Facebook page www.facebook.com/endowarrior.

Judging by the enthusiasm at this year’s event and the promises from participants to be back – and to spread the word and get more people to join us in 2016 – we should be well on our way to show the rest of the world that South Africa and Africa CAN contribute significantly to this global campaign. Make OUR voices COUNT.  Register now for 2016! Come on Ladies and Gents –  join us as we unite to get our voices heard to help raise awareness and stand strong for finding a cure.

The 2016 awareness March will take place at Rietvlei Zoo Farm, just outside of Alberton. We will be doing a 2.5km fun walk, and afterwards we will be enjoying a picnic.  There is wonderful facilities for Kids, so bring your whole family. To find out more and to register for the 2016 Million Women March, email Réchelle Heldsinger at endo_warriors@webmail.co.za or follow us on facebook: www.facebook.com/endowarrior or Register Here

Endometriosis Evening

Look out en-route for the Pink and Purple Endometriosis awareness cyclists and their supporters during the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge

Finding out you have endometriosis is devastating for any women, young or old, not only physically but emotionally and even economically. Diagnosis can take up to 8 years – therefore early diagnosis and awareness can save a lifetime of heartache for not only the sufferer but their family as well.  The Endometriosis Society of South Africa (Endometriosis–SA) is hoping to grow its national network of support groups – which is essential and most comforting to have when you are dealing with endometriosis.

Nicole Bohnsack had many years of pain and miss-diagnosis which eventually lead to major surgery. Her and her Mum decided to initiate a campaign to raise awareness. With the 94.7 Cycle Race looming they thought it would be a great opportunity to raise awareness and gathered together some friends and family, which range from First Time Riders to Iron Men in training and Veterans, all willing to wear the stunning pink and purple cycle jerseys on the big day, kindly sponsored by Bayer Healthcare.

Although Nicole will not be riding the 94.7 race this year due to having recent surgery, in the spirit of supporting Endometriosis–SA she will be on the sidelines supporting the EndPain Team.

Look out for the Pink and Purple jerseys en-route!
